In 2008, GPGP served 27 new households – 25 with new gardens, and 2 who received seeds and plants only. Additionally, GPGP continued work with 23 households who started GPGP’s 2-year program in 2007. In total, GPGP worked with 50 households in 2008, the same number as in 2007.
In the 7 years since inception, GPGP has served a total of 166 households as presented in the table below. Based on application information, GPGP estimates that its gardens have directly provided food for approximately 550 people. Additionally, gardeners often report that they shared their bounty, so we do not know the true number of GPGP beneficiaries.

GPGP also received feedback from our 2007 gardeners by way of a survey. Of the 24 gardeners contacted, 83.3% of the gardeners were able to grow enough food for themselves, 91.7% were able to give food to others, and 100% planned to continue gardening. Of the four gardeners who did not complete the survey, two had to move and were not gardening at the time, one was experiencing health problems and unable to maintain the garden and one could not be reached.
